Bocas del Toro Beaches
Bluff Beach is on Isla Colon where most of the hotels are, so
expect the most fellow beach lovers here. Take a taxi or bicycle a few
easy miles to Bluff Beach, where you will find a really pretty beach.
Don't go in more than knee deep at Bluff Beach due to strong undertows
and currents.
Punch Beach is just before Bluff Beach, a little less scenic,
but one with a reputation for great surfing. Many consider these beaches
unsafe for swimmers...but you can wade out without problem.
Bocas del Drago - A beautiful beach on the main island, but a
little farther away. When the seas are calm, the snorkeling is good.
Red Frog Beach: Boca's most beautiful beach on Isla Bastimientos.
You are sure to see and hear the shrill cries of the famous red frog with
black dots as you stroll through the rainforest. Isla Bastimiento is the
only place on the planet where this brilliant colored bright red frog
lives. Don't go in more than knee deep at Red Frog Beach due to strong
undertows and currents.
Playa Larga - A great beach on Isla Bastimientos where you can
camp out and see the famous sea turtles come ashore and frolic in the
surf.
Always consult your tour operator and the locals before swimming any
beach. This is wild untamed marine wildlife reserves with hundreds of
square miles of water; as with any frontier be careful and protect your
interests.
